A relaunch that's worth seeing
Together with our customer, we were faced with a major challenge: a new merchandise management system was needed, with which the existing store would unfortunately not have been compatible. A new interface and modernization of the store were needed, and everything had to be in place in time for the Christmas season - the perfect opportunity to create a future-proof solution!

About DRKS
DRK-Service GmbH is a subsidiary of the German Red Cross that has been supporting the associations and institutions in their work with Red Cross services and products for over 50 years. Its services cover 5 areas: Trade, Strategic Purchasing, Publishing, Digital Services and Fundraising.
Project goals
  • Conception & development of a holistic interface between Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central & Shopware 6
  • Relaunch of the Red Cross store, in which both merchandise (B2C&B2B) and equipment (B2B) of the DRK can be purchased
  • Digitization and modernization of the store. The focus for this: Improved, intelligent search, SEO optimization, responsive and CI-compliant design, customizable products with a functioning preview, comprehensive filter options, shipping costs & customer matrix and much more.
  • Increased sales through improved user experience
The challenge
The relaunch was to take place at the same time as the introduction of the new merchandise management system. Particular attention had to be paid to the fact that Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central** was to be connected to Shopware 6. As there was no existing solution to date, a complete interface had to be built. There were also some processes that needed to be automated as part of the modernisation: For example, orders were previously placed using a form to be filled out manually, which had to be sent to DRKS by email to be manually transferred into the system. Now this process runs fully automatically! Even new customer registration, which was previously carried out by email, is now handled via an online form that transfers the data directly into the ERP system. A massive time saving and increase in efficiency.
Shopware at your service
As the basis of our solution for DRKS GmbH, our customer opted for Shopware 6 in the Evolve Edition, which is optimised for B2B. It is a highly scalable, customisable and efficient e-commerce solution with extended marketing and business logic. The integrated B2B components, which enable customer-specific role and rights assignments, as well as prices and offers, should be emphasised as a particular advantage for this project. ‘Wow’ inside and out
Of course, the new shop should not only be functionally convincing, but also visually express the DRK spirit. Based on the CI, we created a design that is both clearly structured and inviting. Instead of a classic slideshow, we used two hero images to present current highlights at a glance. The Figma Shopware Module Library based on the standard Shopware modules served as the basis for the design. We extended this with individual customisations, which we discussed with our client within the given time frame.
Badges on the product tiles ensure that promotions and special features immediately catch the eye, while disruptive elements in signal colour, inspired by the classic high-visibility vest yellow, draw attention to important information. Of course, the UI also adapts responsively to tablet and mobile devices!
