Digital pre-order with Pölking shoes In view of globally unstable supply chains, forward-looking planning is essential. Together with Pölking Schuhe, we have further developed the B2B e-commerce processes and integrated a digital pre-order solution that optimises the ordering process and opens up international markets. The complete digitalisation has reduced costs and made warehousing more efficient. At the same time, the pre-order enables targeted planning of upcoming seasons and reliable delivery dates - which not only increases the satisfaction of trading partners, but also boosts sales in the long term. The result: a user-friendly, scalable shop that supports early purchasing decisions and creates long-term competitive advantages.

Details about the customer: J.H. Pölking GmbH & Co. KG is a traditional shoe wholesaler from Osnabrück, founded in 1894. The company supplies over 3,000 retailers in Germany and Europe with a wide range of women's, men's and children's shoes. The portfolio includes own brands such as Dr Brinkmann and Comfortabel as well as well-known brands such as Rieker and Bugatti.
Design meets function
- CI-compliant and user-orientated When designing the B2B platform, great importance was attached to clear, structured user guidance - visually harmonised with Pölking's corporate design. A digital order form, which displays all items in a clear scroll-down view, served as the conceptual basis. This allows users to keep track of their order at all times - even when ordering large quantities.
Clarity and filterability are key UX requirements, especially in the footwear industry with its high level of variety. This is why all available sizes, colours and models, as well as the corresponding availability, are displayed at a glance. Delivery dates are displayed transparently, enabling reliable purchasing planning.
Intelligent filters - for example by heel height, material, fit, size or colour - enable precise product selection. Customer-specific prices and individual product variants are displayed dynamically so that retailers can navigate through the catalogue efficiently and intuitively. The result is a user interface that feels familiar, but at the same time shines in terms of functionality and user-friendliness.
More functionality, more reach:
The challenge of the B2B shop relaunch We implemented the first B2B shop for Pölking Schuhe back in 2016 - a tried-and-tested solution. With a growing product range and increasing requirements in international trade, a targeted further development was now required. The existing shop structure was modernised without jeopardising established processes. Processes and interfaces had to be adapted to current market conditions and the need for availability, transparency and real-time data. The lack of an ERP connection was particularly challenging: without real-time communication, stock levels could not be reliably displayed - with increased coordination effort and the risk of incorrect orders.
ERP system integration
Thanks to the simultaneous connection to Microsoft Dynamics NAV, central data such as product information, prices and stock levels are maintained directly in the ERP system and synchronised with the online shop in real time. This eliminates the need for separate data maintenance in the shop and avoids errors caused by outdated information. Orders are automatically transmitted to the ERP, which means that customers always receive up-to-date order information and support costs are reduced. The ERP interface thus forms the central link between the shop and the backend - for a seamlessly integrated shopping experience.
International digitalisation The market in Eastern Europe has been digitised with the introduction of several language and currency options. Retailers can now use the shop in Polish, Czech, English and German and process orders directly in their local currency. This considerably simplifies access to new markets.
Implementation of pre-order processes By placing pre-orders for the next trading season, Pölking can plan capacities for pre-orders in advance and optimise supply chains in the long term. The affiliated retailers also receive planning and price security thanks to guaranteed delivery quotas.
Powerful filter and search functions In the shoe trade, extensive search and filter functions for a full range of thousands of articles are a must-have. All properties and attributes are taken directly from the ERP system.
Product security in the new webshop
In addition to the functional enhancements, product safety in the web shop has also been significantly improved: safety-relevant information - such as specifications in accordance with the GPSR - is now integrated directly into the system. This automatically fulfils legal requirements and at the same time sustainably increases transparency for customers.
