SEO with Strapi
Strapi features a dedicated component for SEO, which was formerly an independently developed plugin, but now is part of Strapi's self-maintained repos. So, you have a guarantee that the basics are always available in any Strapi version.
The possibilities
Out of the box, the following fields can be individually enabled, for every post/article/content page:
  • Title: Of utmost importance, and directly impacting rankings
  • Description: When properly aligned with the page content, improves also click-through rates as it is displayed in search results too.
  • Image: Provide search engines and social networks with a hint of which image represents that page best.
  • Open Graph Tags and Twitter card tags can also be enabled: These provide rich previews on social platforms, indirectly driving traffic and visibility, and can be customized specifically for each network.
  • Keywords: Although largely obsolete in SEO, Strapi uses them internally for ranking the page's content, and suggesting improvements.
  • Robots: Controls, on a per-page level, indexing and link-following behavior, helping manage which pages are visible to search engines and preserving crawl budget.
  • Structured data: Provides search engines with additional context about the content, enhancing search result features like rich snippets.
  • Viewport: Optimizes page display for mobile devices, ensuring better usability and supporting mobile-first indexing.
  • Canonical: Prevents duplicate content issues by specifying the primary version of a page, consolidating ranking signals for that URL.
In addition to easily providing the mentioned fields, it is noteworthy saying that the component can be individually enabled or disabled for each collection or content types which your Strapi site works with. Moreover, it can also be further expanded by adding more fields, if need be.
Finally, it also provides a very easy to use and editor friendly tool, which when used in a post or article, will provide relevant analysis on whether the page is well prepared for SEO, or if some adjustment is suggested, like content length, or "on topic" density, compliant tags, and more. We at ZYRES have a wide experience in optimizing both the CMS Backend as well as a site's Frontend. Apart from the mentioned in this post, there are many other optimizations we apply. More on that in a future post.
